FAQs

What is AFC Columbia?

We are non-for-profit, community funded and led men’s amateur-professional soccer team based out of Columbia, Missouri. We will also be fielding a reserve squad and an Over 30 team in 2022.

What are the age limits?

No age restrictions. But athletes under the age of 18 need to have the proper waivers signed by a parent/guardian.

When are tryouts?

AFCC will have tryouts on March 4, 2022 from 11 AM to 1 PM or 3 PM to 5 PM.  Team selections will happen the following week.  Players will be expected to be physically fit and ready to go

Am I eligible to play for the club?

AFCC is unique in that it is solely focused on the growth of Mid-Missouri soccer.  To be eligible you must have either a) be a native of Mid-Missouri (born, raised or a current resident)  OR b) play at a local college in Mid-Missouri.  There are no time or nationality restrictions on those requirements either.  We simply want to promote players that call our area home or have grown up here.

What is the time commitment?

AFCC will train two days a week in the evening with games generally on the weekend, with a slight chance of week-night games.  The expectation is that if you do not attend training sessions then you’re not available for selection for the next match. Attendance and commitment are important to maintain your place as a player in the club.

Where does the club train and play matches?

AFCC has not officially announced a home venue for league matches or training.  All club activities however will take place within Columbia Missouri.

What does it cost to play for AFCC?

A $250 fee covers everything including league fees, training kits, facility rentals, referee fees and coaching etc. Athletic trainers are provided at all home and away league matches as well. You will even get supplemental insurance once registered.  Uniforms are covered in this fee as well.

What is the skill level?

AFCC will compete in a highly competitive regional league with a wide variety of players such as current college players, recent college players, aspiring professional players, ex-professional players, and highly skilled amateurs. The playing style and physicality is similar to elite college games, but with a more professional atmosphere.

What is travel like?

League travel will be limited to Missouri, Kansas and Illinois during the regular season. Additional friendlies travel will depend on our opponents. The club will provide or organize transportation to all events.

When does the season run?

Preseason will start in April with games starting in May and ending in July.

Does it affect my college eligibility?

Nope, you will remain NCAA eligible. We would still encourage you to speak with your coach to be sure if you have questions for your specific institution.

What is the coaching staff like?

AFCC provides as professional an environment as we can to our players. With licensed coaches, the club will maintain a professional standard to help develop our players and learn during your time with us.

Do the teams play in other competitions?

While this is still TBD, the club intends on playing in the US Open Cup Qualifiers as soon as fiscally possible.

Does AFCC provide any housing?

Not currently.

Does AFCC offer goalkeeper training?

We will have a goalkeeper coach on staff to help GK’s of all teams.
