BRANDON RUSSELL NAMED MEN'S TEAM ASSISTANT COACH

Brandon Russell Named Men’s Team Assistant Coach

Brandon Russell, who served as AFCC’s Assistant Coach in its inaugural MWPL campaign, will be returning to the Men’s squad’s coaching staff as Chris Miller’s Assistant Coach.

Russell played a crucial part in analyzing talent as the Eagles’ first Midwest Premier League squad was built in early 2022 and helped develop them alongside Head Coach Boardsen to earn a second place finish.

Coach Russell brings a strong resume to the coaching staff, having spent six years as an Assistant Men’s soccer coach and Head JV Coach at Westminster College. He also formerly head coached at Sporting Columbia for 6 years.

A former soccer player himself, Russell plied his trade at Jefferson College and Missouri Valley College. He was also included in multiple all conference, all district, all region, and all state teams at Fulton High School.

Russell felt the 2022 campaign ended strongly and is eager to build on that momentum heading into the 2023 season. “Excited to be back for a second season. We ended our season last year on the front foot and can’t wait to see that positivity and that hunger this next season.”

Coach Russell will begin working with the rest of the Men’s coaching staff immediately in preparation for the 2023 MWPL season, with tryouts taking place in March and training for the upcoming season following soon afterwards.
